1992 MUSTANG LX
Glenn Adams
*
HP STAGE II This car was originally ordered as a police interceptor, but the agency who ordered it never took delivery and Glenn purchased it new in 1992 (a true "one-owner"!) and has been modifying it ever since. Glenn reports that after having Jack Lyons add the HP Raceturbo Kit, wiring and fuel lines, he tried to dyno it and pegged out the dyno at 1,200 rwhp with power to spare, so they are looking for a bigger dyno and tuning it on the track for now. Glenn says he "pilots the car and pays for the upgrades", and his friend Cal Hartline of Hartline Performance does the computer tuning. Glenn's wife Karie is his number one pit crew and helps support his habit with birthday and Christmas presents! Glenn reports that he is still finishing up his car, adding the parachute and wing soon. He is planning to debut "DOG BONE" in March, 2004 at the Spring Break Shootout. Check back here for results and more news about this awesome car!
UPDATE: Jack Lyons (the builder) called us with an update on Glenn's car. The car made its debut at the Spring Break Shootout and after 13 rounds of eliminations, the car emerged victorious, winning the "unlimited" class ("run what you brung") with a 9.04 @ 153 mph. The car later ran an 8.55 @ 155 mph and has gone a top speed of 167 mph. The car is featured in the July 2004 issue of Muscle Mustang and Fast Fords. Stay tuned for more news!
July 2004 - Event Article - "Break Out" - Adams' turbo car took out Kieler and his Lincoln to bring home the glory in the Pro50.com Spring Break Shootout: "The sweet sound of a turbocharger led us to take a closer look at Glenn Adams' LX coupe. Its low rumble is deceptive as he pounded several low 9-second times to take the class win and pocket Pro50.com's money." ".....Claiming the second position on the ladder was Glenn Adams, who drove a sedate looking red notchback quietly into the mid-9s. An impressive elapsed time indeed, but the owner reported the car was capable of going deep into the 8s and the 155.79-mpg blast showed. The new combination was still being sorted out that weekend.....Adams knew this round was to be his biggest test, because if he made it past Pittzer then he would have a buy run into the finals. His longtime friend, Jack Lyons, upped the boost and told Adams to hold on tight. The coupe unloaded a 9.11 at 145.58 mpg and he beat Pittzer to the finish line.....From the moment the green light dropped Adams was out on Kieler and he never looked back. The notchback kept pulling away and Adams saved his best performance for last. He ran 9.04 at 153.13 mph for the victory.... " - Michael Galimi - MM&FF, July 2004
